I am single parent and my spouse filed for divorce. I do not have any money for a lawyer, so I am uncertain of my furture and what the divorce process is.

Does the lawyer specialize in divorces and family court?
Well, my co-worker didn’t get a lawyer to get divorce. She just walked to the court house and got the form and filled it out with her husband. They made the agreement on their own. If you pay for a lawyer, 90% of the case that the lawyer will settle with the other side of lawyer first because they go to court anyway. It’s all about the settlement. Getting a lawyer is just to make sure that the other side is not or minimize the chance of getting rib off. BUT, my step mother-in-law got robbed by her exspouse anyway even they both had a lawyer. It’s because her exspouse hide lots of money in cash and some other oversea stocks and houses that he never disclosed it during divorce. YOU SEE.
